Savory Steak and Sausage Recipe
- 3 beef rump steaks
- 1 lb ground pork
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 2 tbsp white vinegar
- 1/2 onion, grated
- 2 tsp hot English mustard
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp crumbled summer or winter savory
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon allspice
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- Pinch of ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Garlic butter
In a separate bowl, mix the pork and chicken with your hands. Then add various spices; onion, savory, garlic, wine, allspice, cloves, salt, and pepper. Place a pan on fire and sauté a tablespoon of the mix. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. You may want to add a little more pepper, savory, or salt.
Start with the steak by trimming it and cutting it into 5 cm x 5 cm pieces and rub with a bit of English mustard. Mix the flour and brown sugar and use the mixture to cover with sides of the meat. Place the steak on a heated grill and allow to cook for 3- 4 minutes. Flip and allow to cook for another 4-5 minutes or until it has heated to your desired internal temperature; 3-6 minutes (145 degrees F), 7 minutes (160 degrees F), 10 minutes (170 degrees F).
Remove the steaks from the grill, set aside to rest for 3 minutes to seal the juice. Use a pastry brush to brush the steak with garlic butter on both sides. Voila! Your savory steak and sausage recipe is ready. Serve with celery and other veggies of choice.
