You’ll need,

  • Good quality extra virgin olive oil
  • Dry red wine
  • Onions and garlic
  • Fresh herbs 
  • Pasta
  • Crushed tomatoes


Chop garlic and onions with your food processor

Place a pan over medium heat, add olive oil once the pan is hot.

Add chopped onions, garlic, oregano, basil leaves (whole) into the pan and sauté for 2 minutes.

Next, take your red wine and pour it into the pan. Allow simmering for at least 3-5 minutes until the red wine is reduced by half.

Add crushed tomatoes into the sauce. Allow the sauce to simmer in reduced heat for at least 20 minutes.

Add at most a cup of salted pasta water into the sauce, stir for some minutes, and remove from heat.

Viola your delicious red wine pasta sauce is ready. Serve over your favorite pasta and enjoy.

Pasta water: always save your pasta water, it adds another touch of flavor to your red wine pasta sauce. Add half or one cup of pasta water to your pasta sauce, that’s all you need.
